Philadelphia 76ers veteran Danny Green has been around the league for a long time. He has seen everything the league can throw at him, he has been able to win three rings, and he has played with some pretty incredible players.
The Sixers will need his experience to be put to good use in the City of Brotherly Love and it has been helpful both on and off the floor this season. Everything he has been through has helped him through his journey and getting to the top of the league and that has rubbed off on his younger teammates in Philadelphia.
“Danny’s one of those guys when I’m coming into the NBA, and just being very aware of what I bring to the table that I wanted my career to emulate,” said Matisse Thybulle. “Being able to play with him and play with a player who has a very similar skillset, but just a little bit more refined than myself is huge.”
Thybulle is a guy who has the potential to be a 3-and-D player in this league and he can be just as good as Green is, if not better, if he can refine his 3-point shot. Green shot 27.3% from deep as a rookie, then improved to 36.8%, and he is now a career 40.1% shooter from deep. Being able to be around a guy like Green can be helpful for Thybulle.
“Just being able to pick up on his tendencies from watching,” Thybulle added. “Also just as a mentor just giving me advice and helping me through the things that I struggle with because he’s seen it all.”
Green is shooting 40.6% from deep on his first season in Philadelphia and he has really helped the team take a step forward in order to chase down their goal of contending for a title. The Sixers will be in need of what he can bring to the table which is an invaluable experience and his ability to knock down those open looks.
“Whether it’s on the court, just his voice, his presence, the things he brings to the table,” Shake Milton added of Green. “Then off the court, he’s somebody who’s always approachable. You can always come talk to him. He’s the true definition of a vet and it’s been great for him to just be around. I think he’s gonna have a really big impact on how far we go.”
The Sixers will continue the road trip on Tuesday against the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena.
