Brothers LaMelo Ball and Lonzo Ball went head-to-head for the first time on Friday night as the Pelicans hosted the Hornets and it was the younger brother who wound up stealing the show. LaMelo Ball had 12 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists in just 26 minutes, while Lonzo Ball only managed five points, three rebounds and two assists in 36 minutes as the Hornets won 118-110. Now LaMelo Ball will be back in action on Saturday and NBA daily Fantasy players will be wondering if Friday was a sign of things to come.
The younger Ball brother has scored in double-figures with at least five assists in six consecutive games while averaging 6.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals during that span. But with his price now up to $6,700 on DraftKings and $6,900 on FanDuel, can he still provide value in your NBA daily Fantasy lineups? Top NBA DFS picks for Saturday, Jan. 9
One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for his Saturday NBA daily Fantasy lineups is Heat forward Jimmy Butler at $7,400 on DraftKings and $8,100 on FanDuel. Butler is off to a slow start statistically this season thanks in part to an ankle injury that cost him a couple of games. However, he’s started to find his shooting stroke the last two times out.
Butler is 15-of-31 from the floor in his last two games and has scored 44 points while grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out nine assists. Against the Celtics on Wednesday, he had a season-high 26 points and eight rebounds and supplemented his NBA daily Fantasy owners with three blocked shots. It feels like it’s only a matter of time before the defending Eastern Conference champions kick it into gear and Butler is liable to put up some big numbers when they finally do.
Part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy also includes rostering Mavericks guard Luka Doncic ($11,000 on DraftKings and $11,600 on FanDuel). Doncic started his season hitting just 2-of-21 from the 3-point line, and he still hasn’t shot it particularly well from deep overall.
However, he’s found his rhythm in the last three games that he’s played and is averaging 32.8 points, 13.3 rebounds and 10.3 assists in those three contests. Against the Nuggets on Thursday, Doncic had 38 points, 13 assists, nine rebounds, five steals and a block to produce a staggering to produce over 75 points on both FanDuel and DraftKings, and you’ll want to ride the hot hand again on Saturday as Dallas takes on the Magic.
