Stephen and Ayesha Curry endorse Biden-Harris presidential ticket

We’ve seen Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha, join Black Lives Matter protests in the streets of the Bay Area. We’ve seen the BLM hashtag stamped on his golf shoes, just below the image of Breonna Taylor.

And we know how the Warriors superstar feels about the antics of President Donald Trump.

The Currys will wade into the heart of politics Thursday when they officially endorse Democratic candidate Joe Biden for presidential ticket, according to news release from the Biden campaign.

The Currys, along with daughters Riley and Ryan, will appear in a taped video – “Keeping the Faith with the Currys” – scheduled to air at the virtual Democratic National Convention.

“We want to ensure that our kids live in a nation that is safe, happy, healthy and fair and so this election . . . ,” Ayesha Curry says in the video.

“. . . We’re voting for Joe Biden,” Stephen says.

The video also features the Currys engaging their daughters in a conversation about the significance of having a woman, Kamala Harris – the first Black woman and first person of Asian descent – as Biden’s running mate.

The Currys join a list of notable sports figures endorsing the Biden-Harris ticket, including LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Megan Rapinoe, Michelle Kwan and NBA commissioner Adam Silver – as well as entertainers Tom Hanks, John Legend, Bruce Springsteen, George Clooney, Kerry Washington, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Hudson.

Stephen Curry has been sharply critical of Trump and was clear in his intention to decline any invitation to join the president and celebrate the Warriors’ 2017 NBA championship. The Warriors, as a team, also concluded that they felt unwelcome. Trump followed up next season by saying the 2018 NBA champion, whether it was the Cavaliers or the Warriors, who won in a sweep, would not be invited.

The Warriors did visit the White House in February 2016 to meet with President Barack Obama after winning the 2015 NBA Finals.
