Steph Curry takes high road to Maverick Carter hating on his defense

Steph Curry sees the hate. He hears your disrespect. He knows what you’re saying about him.

The Warriors superstar isn’t searching for the noise, but he has people who always let him know who’s hating.

“I hear it all, I don’t go lookin’ for it but I got so many people — I got some goons out there that send me every link possible,” Curry said Wednesday morning on “Pursue Your Passion.” “I know what’s up.

Steph Curry responds to Mav Carter’s comments on his defense:

“You doing something great no matter what it is, they’re coming for you… People who actually know what they’re talking about they’re gonna speak facts & truth.”

One of those goons clearly sent Curry a link of LeBron James’ business partner Maverick Carter slamming Steph’s defense.

“The world knows Steph (Curry) can’t f—ing play defense. I’m 38, haven’t played a decent game of basketball in 18 years, Steph would have trouble guarding me,” Carter said Sunday night in a conversation that featured Warriors teammate Draymond Green. But Steph is the greatest shooter in the world. When that motherf—er gets rolling you can’t stop him. He can hit any shot from anywhere on the court.

“And he’s actually really good off the ball on defense, he’s a good steal artist. But he needs Klay (Thompson) and Draymond to kind of cover everything else so he can do his thing.”

Curry was unbothered by the comments and instead took the high road. He knows greatness sometimes comes with plenty of hate.

“When you’re doing something great, no matter what it is, they’re coming for you,” Curry said. “I’m so secure in who I am and who I know I am on the court, that’s why I never respond to anybody. Either I’m agreeing with you or I’m laughin’.

“… I have no problem letting stuff live knowing that people who actually know what they’re talking about, they’re gonna speak facts and truth. When I’m done playing and retired, there’s still gonna be haters. The hate’s always louder than the praise at times, which sucks, but I’m just so unbothered.”

Curry’s not a perfect defender, far from it. He always would lock up 38-year-old businessman Mav Carter blindfolded with one hand. He twice has led the league in total steals and once in steals per game.

It’s also far more important for Curry to focus his energy on offense instead of defense. He never will make an All-Defensive team, just like Carter and most others outside of the NBA can’t cross up the two two-time MVP.

Just stop.
