Here in “Notable Numbers,” we attempt to unearth a plethora of interesting statistics and fantasy-relevant facts each week. Today, with the All-Star Break nearly over, I’ll list some stats/facts for each team in the Eastern Conference from the first half of play. Next week, we’ll focus on the West.

Atlanta Hawks:Trae Young currently leads the Eastern Conference players in total points (1,483) and total assists (459). Per the Elias Sports Bureau, Trae Young is the quickest (130 games) and youngest (21 years, 144 days) Hawks player ever to reach 3,000 points. He broke the records previously held by Bob Pettit (133 games) and John Drew (21 years, 185 days).

Boston Celtics:Coming into this season, no player in NBA history had ever averaged at least 20 points, five rebounds and 2.5 made 3-pointers per game during their age-21 season. Jayson Tatum is currently averaging 22.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.6 made treys per game. Tatum will celebrate his 22nd birthday next month. Per Basketball-Reference, he is one of only four players in NBA history with at least 3,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 150 made treys before turning 22. The other three are LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant.

Charlotte Hornets:Devonte’ Graham has increased his scoring average by 13.4 points per game this season to 18.1 PPG, up from 4.7 during the 2018-19 season. That’s the largest increase in the league. Hornets guard Terry Rozier has increased his points per game by 8.8 points – from 9.0 last season to 17.8 in 2019-20, which is the third-largest increase in the NBA. Miles Bridges has scored 15+ points in each of the Hornets’ final eight games prior to the All-Star break. It’s the longest such streak of his career.

Chicago Bulls:Prior to the start of the 2019-20 campaign, no Bulls player had ever made more than 173 three-pointers in a single season. (That was Ben Gordon back in 2008-209). Well, Zach LaVine has already knocked down 168 treys. In addition, LaVine has scored in double-figures in 40 straight games dating back to Nov. 22. This is the longest such streak by a Bull since Derrick Rose’s run of 66 consecutive contests in 2011-12.

Cleveland Cavaliers:Darius Garland is currently the only NBA rookie this season with at least 600 points, 180 assists and 90 three-pointers. Collin Sexton has played in every game of his NBA career thus far (135 games). Per Cleveland PR, that’s the longest streak by a player who started their career with the Cavs since Andre Miller, who played his first 185 contests, beginning in November of 1999 through December of 2001.

Detroit Pistons:In the Pistons final five games prior to the All-Star break, Christian Wood averaged 20.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.8 blocks and 1.8 made triples while shooting 52.9% from the floor, 40.9% from downtown and 76.9% from the free-throw line. Wood has a chance to be a difference-maker down the stretch once again. Over the Pelicans final seven regular-season games in 2018-19, Wood averaged 18.3 points (on 53% shooting), 8.9 boards, 1.0 steals and 1.4 blocks.

Indiana Pacers:Domantas Sabonis ranks sixth in the NBA with an average of 12.7 rebounds per game and third with 41 double-doubles on the season. Remarkably, this is the fourth straight season of his career in which Sabonis has increased his scoring average, assist average and rebounding average.

Miami Heat:Duncan Robinson has currently connected on multiple 3-point field goals in 23 straight games, which is an all-time franchise record for Miami. Even more impressively, Robinson knocked down at least three 3-pointers in each of Miami’s final 16 games before the All-Star break. The only two players in NBA history with longer such streaks are Stephen Curry and James Harden.

Milwaukee Bucks:Giannis Antetokounmpo is on pace to become just the third player in NBA history to average more than 30 points, ten boards and five assists per game while shooting over 50% from the floor, joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain. What’s truly mind-boggling is that Giannis putting up these numbers despite logging just 30.9 minutes a night, which is his lowest MPG average since he was a 19-year old rookie in 2013-14.

Story continues

Brooklyn Nets:In 37 starts this season, Spencer Dinwiddie has averaged 22.1 ppg, 3.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists in 32.6 minutes. Only six players in the NBA have averaged at least 22 points and seven dimes per game this season: Luka Doncic, James Harden, LeBron James, Damian Lillard, Russell Westbrook and Trae Young. With the revelation this week that Kyrie Irving aggravated his right shoulder injury and is scheduled to meet with another shoulder specialist, Dinwiddie will likely see plenty more starts over the second half of the season.

New York Knicks:Dennis Smith Jr. is on pace to become the first player in NBA history to attempt more than 200 FG’s and shoot below 35% from the floor, below 30% from 3-point territory, and below 50% from the free-throw line… More encouragingly, R.J. Barrett is on pace to join Luka Doncic and Jayson Tatum as just the third teenager in NBA history to average double-figure points, and more than five rebounds and more than one made 3-pointer per game.

Orlando Magic:Nikola Vucevic has recorded a team-high 27 double-doubles this season and now has 312 double-doubles during his NBA career. He is second in Orlando Magic franchise history for most career dub-dubs, behind only Dwight Howard. Vooch has also racked up at least 25 double-doubles in eight consecutive seasons. That is the longest active streak in the NBA.

Philadelphia 76ers:Ben Simmons appeared in his 200th NBA game last month. According to Basketball-Reference, he is one of only three players in NBA history to tally at least 3,000 points, 1,500 rebounds and 1,500 assists over his first 200 career games. The other two members of this exclusive club are Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson.

Toronto Raptors:After being named the NBA’s Most Improved Player last season, Pascal Siakam is averaging new career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and made 3-pointers in 2019-20. He is on pace to become just the third Eastern Conference player (joining Antonie Walker and Carmelo Anthony) to average more than 23 points, seven boards, two treys and one steal per game.

Washington Wizards:Bradley Beal averaged 29.1 points per game over his first 46 appearances, yet somehow was snubbed from the 2020 All-Star team. Beal is the first player in NBA history to average more than 29 points and not be named an All-Star. The previous record-holder was World B. Free, at 28.7 PPG. Beal is also dishing out a career-high 6.2 dimes a night and shooting a career-best 84.3% from the charity stripe this season.
